Dining at Gordon Ramsay Steak in Las Vegas
Even though Gordon Ramsey Steak in Las Vegas opened back in 2012, I have not heard of this restaurant until this year. I've always been a fan of Gordon Ramsay ever since I watched his TV shows, Hell's Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, Master Chef and Master Chef Junior. In New York, my friend and I loved his restaurant, MAZE, which has since closed in 2013.
On a recent trip to Las Vegas, a colleague insisted we check out Gordon Ramsay Steak - she had a friend who raved about it. I wasn't surprised to hear that, knowing full well of the chef's high standards. As it turns out, the whole dining experience at Gordon Ramsay Steak surpassed my expectations.
Think of it as the Las Vegas version of the Chunnel linking Paris to London.
The restaurant is located inside the Paris Las Vegas Hotel and reservations are highly recommended. It seems fitting, since the entry to the restaurant from Paris' casino floor resembles the chunnel connecting London and Paris. I suggest you request a table in the main dining room, instead of settling for the casual bar and lounge. Like I said, dining here is an experience.
My colleague and I already knew we wanted to try the American Rip Cap, but our server was happy to show us the table of meat cuts available for the evening. The contents on this table were pretty impressive (I'm always fascinated with the tomahawks). Still, we insisted on the American Rib Cap (American waygu beef cut) which is on the top right - the one that looks like it's going to slide off this disk.
Prior to dinner we started with three specialty breads and butter (which appeared to have some pink and and black sea salt on it). I also opted for some raw oysters to freshen my palate. For sides, we opted for roasted brussel sprouts and fingerling potatoes that would compliment our meats.
When I say this American Rib Cap was tasty, I mean is was soft to the cut, easy to eat with barely a glaze on it. The meat was tender, juicy and full of flavor. To add to it, I opted for a seared foie gras, which I would never have guessed would compliment steak so well!
Don't forget about dessert! Another, highly-recommended dish to try was the Sticky Toffee Pudding with Butter Brown Ice Cream. This dessert is meant to look like bread and butter, but there is nothing savory about it. I found this dish to be heavenly. The brown butter ice cream has a sweet and salty taste to it, and it softened the super-sweet and thick toffee pudding. Delish!!!
Although it was difficult to get a photo of the restaurant without flashing a light in everyone's eyes, I managed to get a photo of the ceiling. Ah, British to the very end! In fact, most of the restaurant had a red-hue setting with minimal white lights. The restaurant's stylish, contemporary decor looked as if could turn into a nightclub at any point. Just an idea!
As it turns out, this past June marked the 5th Anniversary of Gordon Ramsay Steak. To celebrate, a special anniversary tasting menu was created with selections from the past five years, including Gordon Ramsay's Beef Wellington Rossini. I'm bummed because I would have loved to try the beef wellington. I missed this menu by a month (I dined there in May). Hey, there's always next year!
