My First Time at 837 NYC

Okay, I'm late in the game at checking out this venue. But recently I had a very good reason to visit: Samsung created a Club des Chefs series of which Michelin-star Chef Michel Troisgros would be doing a cooking demo featuring Samsung kitchenware. 

Upon entering the venue, we were escorted to stadium seating (for about 75 people) below street level where the bottom landing served as the stage. Above it were these huge screens that would make IMAX envious. On the landing was the demo table/stove with cooking ingredients spread on it, as well as on the credenza in the back, next to a very large Samsung fridge (ou frigo en francais). Also, on the landing level off the the left of the stage was a full bar.

Chef Troisgros' presentation was a delight with his franglais (half in French and half in English with the translating help from a Bon Appetit editor) and the two dishes we sampled were fantastic (I was surprised they brought out a small plate for each person there).

I've looked on the 837 NYC web site and I could not find out information as to whether the venue can be rented out. In my opinion, I doubt it only because Samsung seems to plan a lot of events for the space, whether its a cooking series like Club des Chefs, a fashion show (I know they hosted two shoes recently for Men's Fashion Week) or a yoga / meditation session. Samsung knew they wanted this space to be a destination to experience Samsung products. Staff are there to help show off the products or troubleshoot any issues. No products are sold on site. 

For me, it's nice to know venues like this exist in New York City. Recently I hosted a group from across the U.S. and Germany and they absolutely loved this space. I want to go back because I know I missed the other floors and I would love to see what other products Samsung has for play.
